At Midland Road we ensure a high quality learning environment both indoors and outdoors with well trained, caring and committed professionals. We know that children’s well-being has a significant impact on their learning and development so happy safe children is our primary aim in order to support children’s learning and progress.
Our curriculum is guided by the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS sets the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
Staff observe children regularly in order to inform their planning and ensure that each individual child’s needs are met. Observations and planning focus on the 7 areas of Learning & Development; Click on the areas of learning to read our curriculum policies.

Progress Check at Age 2
When a child is aged between 2 and 3 years old, staff review their progress and provide parents/carers with a short written summary of their child’s development. This includes information about the child’s strengths and any areas where the child’s progress is less than expected.
Please see our Growing & Learning section on the home page of our website for more information about children’s development.
Play is at the heart of our curriculum and we balance child led activities with more focused adult planned experiences. Play is children’s work … pay us a visit and we feel sure that you will see how hard our children work at nursery and how much they are learning.
We know that parents are the biggest influence on children’s lives which is why we place so much importance on working in partnership with parents.
