Safeguarding Equalities Info

We have many policies and procedures at Midland Road but three of the most important are Safeguarding, Equalities and the Prevent Agenda they provide the foundations for all our planning and monitoring.

We are committed to promoting the wellbeing, safeguarding and welfare of all children here at Midland Road Nursery School. This includes when children are in school and at home. If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or welfare, please contact us and speak to one of our trained, designated, safeguarding lead practitioners.

Staff with Safeguarding responsibilities:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Ginny Robinson – Headteacher

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

  • Sally Butterworth – Acting Assistant Head
  • Hannah Clark – SENCO
  • Sara Earnshaw – Business Manager
  • Vicky Jones – Teacher
  • Rayhana Jannah – Teacher

We are part of Operation Encompass is a national early intervention safeguarding partnership which is based on strong communication and information sharing between the police and schools. Every police force in England and Wales is part of the program.

Manningham Community Nursery Schools federation is part of the Operation Encompass program. This means that our schools will receive alerts from Operation Encompass if the police have been involved in a domestic abuse incident the previous evening/weekend. Operation Encompass will contact the federation Key Adult.  The key adult receives training in order to carry out the role. In our federation the key adult is:

Virginia Robinson – DSL.

When the key adult receives a notification from Operation Encompass they will speak to the child’s key person and room leader to inform them of the incident. They will ensure staff are prepared to manage the child’s emotional response to the incident. They will assess the information about the incident and decide on the amount of support required to help the child. They will follow the federation safeguarding procedures and decide on next steps. This may include a referral to children’s social care.
